Tim Hortons Announces Leicester Opening Date
Iconic Canadian Café and Bake Shop chain, Tim Hortons®, has announced it will be opening the doors to its biggest restaurant to date, in Leicester, on Thursday 28th November at midday.
Located on East Gates, in the heart of the city, the Leicester location will span 3 floors for everyone to enjoy Canada’s favourite coffee*.
There will also be an early Christmas present for Tims fans too, the first 100 customers through the door at the new restaurant will receive a free lunch combo meal to celebrate the opening.
The lucky, early-bird customers can treat themselves to a Tims ® Crispy Chicken Sandwich, or any Grilled Wrap, with a portion of potato wedges and a small drink all free of charge.
In addition to this festive treat, the very first person in the queue for the restaurant, will receive a VIP card entitling them to two free drinks every day for a year! That’s 730 free Lattes, French Vanillas, or Frozen Lemonades to really quench that thirst.
As the season of goodwill is nearly upon us, diners can also enjoy the new festive goodies; Rudolph the Reindeer Donuts, Gingerbread Lattes, Frozen White Hot Chocolate and the Christmas Spiced Caramel Brownie.
The Tim Hortons® brand was founded in 1964 by its namesake, a top professional ice hockey player, who wanted to create a space where everyone would feel at home. Fast forward to 2019 and nearly eight out of 10 cups* of coffee sold across Canada are served at Tim Hortons® restaurants and more than 5.3 million Canadians – approximately 15 percent of the population – visit the café daily.
The Leicester restaurant will take up over 6,500 square feet of retail space in the city centre, for all locals and shoppers to easily access. With more than 150 seats, this iconic homely restaurant covers 3 floors. As well as the famous Donuts, Timbits®and range of beverages, customers will have on offer hearty breakfast options, as well as a variety of lunch items such as sandwiches, wraps, paninis and toasties, all fresh and made-to-order using quality ingredients.
The history of the building goes back to 1885, when East Gates Coffee House first opened and created a popular spot for coffee lovers during the Temperance Movement.

The first Tim Hortons® in the U.K. opened its doors in Glasgow in June 2017 to huge fanfare, with fans travelling from across the country and queuing overnight to sample the Brand’s famed coffee and baked goods. As Tim Hortons® rolls out nationwide, a further 22 restaurants are now serving guests in and around Birmingham, Glasgow, Cardiff, Manchester and Belfast with excitement levels showing no signs of dropping.
