Scorpion provides technical production to the first Sonic Boom Festival in Burton upon Trent

Scorpion Production Group is proud to announce its role in providing full event production services for the inaugural Sonic Boom, a free-to-attend community music festival held in the heart of Burton upon Trent.

Organised by Sonic Boom CIC in partnership with East Staffordshire Borough Council, the festival brought together local talent, music lovers, and the wider community in a vibrant celebration of music.

Sonic Boom 2024 took place in Burton’s historic marketplace, transforming the town centre into a buzzing festival venue. As the production partner, Scorpion Production

Group delivered a comprehensive range of services ensuring the success of this highly anticipated event. From staging and sound to lighting, video, and safety infrastructure, our team managed every technical aspect to bring Sonic Boom to life.

Stage, Sound, and Lighting

At the heart of the festival was the main stage, a large, professionally designed platform that showcased an eclectic mix of performances throughout the day. Scorpion Production Group provided all stage equipment, providing a sturdy and reliable setup for both the artists and production team. The sound system was a critical component of the festival’s success, delivering crystal-clear audio to the large crowds gathered in the

marketplace. With a powerful, high-quality system, including a mix of flown line arrays and subwoofers, we ensured that every note and lyric reached the audience, creating an immersive musical experience.

To enhance the atmosphere, we also provided intelligent stage lighting. This included a combination of moving heads, colour washes, and effects lighting, all expertly programmed to complement the performers and the overall mood of the festival. The lighting design added energy and visual impact, heightening the audience’s connection with the performances.

Video, LED Wall, and Visuals

In addition to sound and lighting, Scorpion Production Group supplied video and visual production for Sonic Boom. A large LED wall was positioned on the back of stage, displaying dynamic graphics, live footage of the performances, and promotional content. This added a visual dimension to the festival, engaging the crowd and

ensuring that even those at the back could enjoy a clear view of the performances.

Power Generation and Distribution

Powering a festival of this scale requires meticulous planning and reliable infrastructure. Scorpion Production Group provided all power generation and distribution systems, ensuring that the festival ran smoothly without any interruptions. Our team installed high-capacity generators and distributed power across the entire festival, covering the stage, lighting, sound, video equipment, and more. The system was designed to ensure a seamless supply of energy, critical for both the technical and logistical aspects of the event.

Plant Hire and Safety Infrastructure

To ensure the event’s success and the safety of attendees, Scorpion Production Group also managed plant hire and installed key safety infrastructure, including crowd barriers and pitt barriers. These barriers were strategically placed to manage crowd flow and keep both performers and audience members safe. Our team worked closely

with event organisers to ensure that all health and safety regulations were adhered to, providing peace of mind for both the organisers and attendees.

A Successful Community Celebration

Edd Stanton, Director of Scorpion Production Group, commented, “It was a privilege to be part of Sonic Boom and to support the Burton upon Trent community in this exciting new event. Our team worked tirelessly to deliver a flawless production, ensuring that the festival could be enjoyed by all. The feedback from organisers and attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are delighted to have played a key role in the success of this event.”

The inaugural Sonic Boom festival has set a strong foundation for future events in Burton upon Trent, and Scorpion Production Group is proud to have been part of its launch. The festival demonstrated how high-quality production services can elevate a local event into an unforgettable experience for the entire community.

Cllr Paul Walker from East Staffordshire Borough Councillor said ”Scorpion did a fantastic job in supporting the Council to deliver the first Sonic Boom Festival. I’ve no doubt, that without their technical knowledge, expertise and experience in both planning and delivery, the event wouldn’t have been such a success”

Andy Jepson Sonicboom CIC comment “Scorpion proved they were the perfect one stop shop at the first Sonic Boom Music festival in Burton. Our event, hosted by BBC Radio 6 Music’s Chris Hawkins had a line up that included some of the biggest rising acts in the UK – bands that have played to 100K+ fans this year. Scorpion delivered a complete solution: technical, site infrastructure and valuable advice to make the event a success.

They managed the bands complex technical requirements with ease, created an impressive staging and lighting solution that blew the audience away and everyone, audience and artists, left the event with a smile.
