Base 51, Nottingham’s Leading Youth Charity, is celebrating 30 years!
Base 51 is a charity that supports 11-25 year olds in Nottingham who are from low-income backgrounds. They provide a ‘safe space where change begins’ for young people, their focus is on early intervention and they offer counselling, trauma support (including exploitation, violent crime, modern slavery and sexual abuse), a LGBTQIA+ peer support group and a youth club, dance studio and a recording studio. They also provide practical support with a kitchen, food parcels, gym, showers, laundry and a clothes bank.
Base 51 has been supporting young people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire since 1993, on the 19th January 2023 they are hosting an Anniversary Dinner at Crowne Plaza Nottingham to celebrate and to shine a light on the amazing work done by all youth organisations in the area.
The profits from the event will be supporting Base 51’s work and each ticket covers:
£40: 1 hour of counselling (the charity has provided over 1200 hours since April 2022)
£25: Crisis Support – shower, hot meal, laundry and crisis counselling
£10: 15 minutes of crisis counselling
Tickets are on sale now – Early Bird £65pp ends on the 18th November, afterwards tickets are £75pp or £700 per table of 10.
There is also an opportunity to support local youth organisations one step further by sponsoring a seat for a Nottingham charity representative; on the night they’ll be honouring those who have worked so hard in the Youth Sector, but many won’t be able to afford to attend – that’s where you, and Sponsored Seats, can make a big difference! Sponsored Seats are £45 and your name/company name will be included in marketing of the event across Base 51 social channels.
Sponsorship packages for the event are available and start at £500, a great way to increase CSR and widen your marketing (and charity donations are tax deductible!). Email [email protected] to find out more.
There are over 17,500 children living in poverty in Nottingham and many of our city wards rank as some of the most deprived in the country; Nottingham also sadly ranks the worst city in the entire UK to be a young person (Youth Opportunities Index Figures) – this Christmas many young people will be going without Christmas presents, food or warmth; Base 51 is collecting Christmas presents and food donations which they will distribute out to the 11-25 year olds they support, email [email protected] if you can contribute. You can also donate to their match-funded Christmas campaign to provide crisis support to those in most need: https://www.avivacommunityfund.co.uk/p/base51
