At this vibrant and experiential luncheon, with cheese and port we will bring together a unique range of special guests and diverse, like-minded entrepreneurs, leaders and public figureheads from across the Midlands and wider UK.

Travelling from county to county, these luncheons highlight the Midlands as a place for investment, culture and tourism, by connecting leaders and entrepreneurs with unique opportunities whilst supporting our region’s ambition to develop and grow our economy and communities.

About our special guest

At 77, Nick Abson is a true trailblazer, whose influence spans diverse fields. As a television and music director, Nick’s career boasts over 2,000 shows, including iconic 1980s programmes like Fraggle Rock, The Krypton Factor, Countdown, and Catchphrase. His impact extends into news and current affairs with The World This Week and Public Eye, as well as science programmes like The Halley Comet Show and Real World. Nick was also a pioneer in the music video industry, working with legends such as Diana Ross, Queen, Stevie Wonder, and Kate Bush—directing the now-famous ‘red dress’ version of Wuthering Heights.

Nick’s passion for innovation didn’t stop there. He ventured into the world of sustainable energy, becoming a fuel-cell pioneer. As the leader of ZeTek PLC, he grew the company from 2 to 200 employees, experiencing both remarkable highs and challenging lows—including a staggering £250 million loss in a single week. At one point, he was the 156th richest person in the UK. Today, Nick continues his groundbreaking work in green energy while pursuing a PhD at 77.

Nick Abson is a captivating individual—a creative mind, an entrepreneur, and a visionary. Don’t miss the chance to connect with him at the KuKu Embassy Luncheon.
