A WARM WELCOME…
This year, the Hilton hotel group are celebrating 100 years of hospitality and we were delighted to be invited to stay as part of these celebrations. Hilton East Midlands Airport is conveniently located just minutes from the airport and the M1 and as we found out is much more than a place to stay before catching a flight.
We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon and upon arriving and walking into the spacious reception the aviation theme was instantly apparent with lots of little details throughout (look out for the series of cute little planes on the ceiling!) Check in was one of the smoothest we have ever experienced and within minutes we had reserved a table for our evening meal and were on our way up to the room.
Attention to detail and a personal touch is something that we noticed during our stay and it was delightful to find a couple of Pina Coladas waiting for us when we entered the room which was a delicious way to start the evening (Interesting fact: the Pina Colada was invented by Ramón Marrero, bartender at the Caribe Hilton San Juan in the 1950s!)
TIME TO RELAX
After a quick trip to the on site spa where we enjoyed a swim, sauna and the relaxing bubbles of the hot tub we headed to the bar area to enjoy some bubbles of a different kind – champagne of course! This beautifully decorated, versatile, open plan seating area has a cool and relaxed vibe and is perfect for a business meeting or a great space to catch up with friends over a few drinks and something tasty from their bar menu. As we headed to our table, the atmosphere was still great with groups of people enjoying evening meals and socialising.
There was a great choice of home comfort food on the menu from Aberdeen Angus burgers, chicken and leek pie, lamb shoulder to bean and rice crockpots. The food was delicious and when it came to pudding we were stuffed. However, never one to miss out we decided to have it later with the waitress very kindly brining it to our room – another example of the excellent service you receive at the Hilton.
FULLY RECHARGED
Following a blissful night’s sleep we headed down to breakfast which was a feast and consisted of a buffet with all the essentials for a full English as well as fresh pastries, cold meats, cereals and fruit – enough to set anyone up for the day!
After we checked out we decided that as we had enjoyed our stay that much we may as well stick around and work from the hotel for a while – and we weren’t the only ones but as I looked around it was quite clear that the clientele of the hotel is much more diverse than just business people or holiday makers. I could see friends catching up over coffee, locals coming in to use the fitness centre and by the time we left, the afternoon tea service was about to begin!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Hilton East Midlands Airport and if we were to describe the hotel in one word, we would say ‘personal’. The personal touches are evident throughout – forget that cold, corporate atmosphere because whatever kind of guest you are, when you’re at the Hilton you most certainly do feel very welcome indeed!
